About Me

I am a Canadian English teacher to speakers of other languages (EFL/ESL) and a consultant on e-learning and Blended Learning at IT4ALL. I earned a Doctor of Education in educational leadership, specializing in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix online. I am researching instructor use of blended learning in higher education. I am also the Moodle co-administrator and coordinator at Integrating Technology for Active lifelong Learning which is a non-profit initiative to provide learners with free e-learning. My goal is to promote e-learning worldwide in education, environmental issues, curriculum development, PTSD, Peace (Education4Peace), Storytelling, Second Life, Mindfulness Meditation Practice, Collaborative Instruction and Learning via Wikieducator. I am an accredited PAIRS and Reiki practitioner with an interest in online distance healing. I researched blended learning in higher education for my doctoral research study. I interviewed instructors who blend (mix) e-learning with face-to-face instruction in campus-based classes in higher education in the US and other countries.

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for over 30 years and integrating technology into the ESL/EFL classroom since the mid 1990s. I have been involved in international collaborative projects and WebQuests via Moodle for the past 5 years. My first website, Nellie’s English Projects was an experiment that evolved from a WebQuest and started me off as a webmistress in the days of html before web 2.0 tools. I facilitate online and face-to-face workshops on how to use IT4ALL as a collaborative tool for instruction and learning and conduct online workshops and conferences. I also develop and moderate Blended Online Learning (BOL) workshops asynchronously on IT4ALL Workshops;on subjects such as storytelling and cultures, mindfulness, Moodle for Teachers, WebQuests, TESOL, ESL, and integration of technology and web 2.0 tools into the classroom and synchronously on WiZiQ. I am passionate about learning. Whenever I have time, I mentor educators on how to integrate web 2.0 tools for instruction and learning. I would like to see e-learning available and free worldwide. Please feel free to contact me by email

I enjoy long distance learning and running, researching and writing articles, developing lesson plans, creating WebQuests, designing online courses, and Moodling. I use blended learning with all of my English classes via Moodle, wikis, and ning social blogs. I love to share and learn with others. Feel free to contact me to ask questions, add comments, or just to say hello.
